Staying Grounded during times of Change
A Freeing Inner Process to move from the Old into the New
I’m so excited to share an inner step by step process with you that I created. Following the inner steps can make it easier to move from the Old into the New, from the old tamer Version of Your Self to the New wilder Version of Your Self.
I’m continuing to focus on the Roots of our inner Tree of Life while I explain this inner freeing process to you.
When I started to live more and more authentically from the Wildness within my Heart, I realized that over time I was outgrowing some of my metaphorical Roots.
There are all kinds of inner Roots that we are connected to.
We need Roots to physically feel grounded, Roots that nurture us emotionally, Roots that stabilize us which are the kind of Roots I addressed in last week’s Newsletter.
So today I’m sharing insights about the Roots which we outgrow over time. It created such uplifting change and more inner Freedom when I realized that some of my inner Roots needed to be replaced.
We are rooted in the culture around us, in our birth family, in beliefs, in a home, in a job, in an inner identity etc. It’s something we start doing as children, teenagers, young adults unconsciously because it’s expected from us.
As adults we can make conscious choices where we want to live, how we interact, what we want to create. We can be our own wise inner gardeners and create a lush, nurturing, wild, ever changing Life environment for ourselves.
So over time when we live authentically and follow the Wildness within our Hearts, we often outgrow structures, patterns, beliefs. We need to uproot the old and grow new Roots which allow more freedom and wildness in our life.
Going through the process of releasing these old deep-rooted patterns and growing new wilder freer Roots, can be at times difficult and also deeply enriching.
As an immigrant I had to uproot myself and replant in a new place which was very challenging for me and I learned so much about myself.
When I followed my heart and immigrated to the US, I had to address my Roots on so many levels. At first I felt adrift and tried to ground myself using my familiar, old Roots.
I grew up in Switzerland which feels very stable to me. The earth is solid, the Alps are ancient and the culture is more traditional.
When I moved to Tahoe, I was in area that was much more newly formed. The Sierra Mountains are newer and the area is more prone to earthquakes. And the US culture is more open to change.
Trying to ground myself in my new environment felt at first very confusing to me because I tried to use my old way of grounding myself.
I had to learn to embrace that the earth below me and the culture were more fluid, changing, newer which created a fantastic opportunity for me to allow more inner movement.
I now feel grounded and safe within a more fluid structure which created more and wilder Freedom within me.
Outgrowing our old Roots because of inner or outer change, doesn’t mean that we loose the connections we had.
I still feel the solid presence of the Alps within me and I also embrace the more fluid, changing nature where I live now which is in the Cascade Mountains, a volcanic environment which makes me feel immensely happy.
What I experienced when I immigrated is also metaphorical and applies to many other inner and outer changes.
We need to change our Roots when we move to a new place, meet a new life partner, change jobs, improve our diet, embrace a new belief or inner pattern, heal from a disease etc.
Trying to ground ourselves in a new job using our old roots wouldn’t be beneficial. Or deciding to be more optimistic and keep grounding ourselves in pessimism won’t change anything in our life.
So here is the step by step process I use when I move from the Old into the New:
I first acknowledge my familiar old Roots and release the energies, which don’t serve me anymore, down through those Roots. We can release our attachments, beliefs, fears, worries, everything which would keep us stuck in the Old.
It’s sometimes not even necessary to know what this is. I often just intend to give everything, that I have outgrown and is holding me back from moving forward, to the Earth where it gets recycled.
And then I imagine that, instead of getting rid of my old Roots, I’m drawing them slowly up and in. This helps me remember that the experiences I gained can always stay within me.
And this creates room for my new Roots. I let the new Roots slowly grow deeper and deeper into the new environment or situation or any new pattern and keep nurturing them.
This metaphorical process allows me to honor the experiences I gained and to make room for new ones. It eases the transition from the old into the new.
When we are aware that we sometimes need to change our inner Roots, we will not feel stuck in the old anymore, we have tools to move forward into greater, wilder Freedom. We can move from the old tamer Version into the new wilder Version of our Self.
Prompts
Today’s prompt is an Audio. It’s a 5 Minute step by step Grounding Practice that you could listen to during times of change and inner growth to make the transition more nurturing, freeing and wilder.
Listening to it could help you release what’s keeping you in the old pattern, belief, emotion, and support you to honor what you learned from those experiences and it makes room for the new freer wilder pattern.
So before you start listening, you could ask yourself what you would like to change in your life? What is an old pattern that you have outgrown and which new pattern resonates with you now?
I’m finishing with this Wild Inkling from the Wildness within my Heart:
“To live wildly and authentically we need to consciously change our Roots to allow inner growth. This nurtures the wild place within our Heart where the wild Version of our Self truly blossoms.”
Please feel free to share in the comment section what you are discovering after listening to the above Audio and follow your Heart and enter your inner Wildness.
To protect the integrity of my publication please don’t promote any outside projects in the comment section.
“May the Wildness within your Heart inspire you to become more of YOU.”
Until next time!
Katja,
Thank you for sharing a meditative visualization of releasing what no longer serves us to make room for a new direction of self, a new awareness and expanded consciousness.
